How to add a watermark to video
For a batch of clips, Star Watermark handles video and images from the same queue on a one-off licence. If you are already editing in Filmora, its watermark presets brand a whole timeline without a second tool.
The decision that matters is static or moving. A fixed corner logo is clean, professional and removed by any tool on this site, because the patch under it never changes. A mark that moves is uglier and genuinely hard to erase. Pick based on whether you are asking for credit or preventing reuse.
Static or moving video watermark
A static corner logo is what broadcasters use. It reads as branding, it does not distract, and viewers stop noticing it almost at once. It is also the easiest thing in the world to remove: the area under it never changes, so a tool rebuilds one patch and applies it to every frame.
A moving mark is what Sora and TikTok use, and for exactly that reason. Because the background under it changes constantly, a remover has to reconstruct a different patch on every frame, and the result degrades. It is far more effective and far more irritating to watch.
- Credit and branding: static, corner, 4 to 6 % of frame height
- Preventing reuse: slow-moving path, crossing the centre at least once
- Client review copies: large, centred, semi-transparent, with the client name burned in
What a video watermark survives
Anything burned into the pixels survives re-encoding, compression and platform re-uploads, which is the whole point. What does not survive is anything stored outside the image: metadata is stripped by most platforms on upload, so a copyright field in the file header protects nothing once the clip is on social media.
Resolution matters more than people expect. A mark sized for 1080p becomes illegible when a platform serves the clip at 480p on a phone. Size the mark as a percentage of frame height and check it at the smallest resolution your audience will see.
Batch watermarking a set of clips
Editing software watermarks one timeline at a time, which is fine for a project and painful for fifty clips. A dedicated batch tool applies the same mark to a folder, and the thing to check is whether it re-encodes the video or passes it through: re-encoding costs a generation of quality on every pass.
For content you upload regularly, the better answer is often the editor you already pay for. A Filmora preset costs nothing extra and puts the mark on before the export rather than after.

Never watermark your only video master
A burned-in mark is permanent. Keep the unmarked master in a separate folder, always, because you will need a clean version for a client, a festival submission or a re-cut.
This is the one mistake that cannot be undone with a tool. Everything on the removal side of this site reconstructs what is under a mark, and reconstruction is a guess, not a recovery.

Adding a watermark to video FAQ
What is the best tool to add a watermark to video?
Star Watermark for a batch of clips, on a one-off licence rather than a subscription. If you already edit in Filmora, its watermark presets do the job without a second tool and put the mark on before export rather than after.
Should a video watermark move or stay still?
Still, if you want branding that viewers stop noticing. Moving, if you want to make reuse impractical: a mark that travels forces a remover to rebuild a different patch on every frame, which is why Sora and TikTok both do it.
How big should a video watermark be?
Around 4 to 6 % of frame height, sized as a percentage rather than in pixels. Check it at the lowest resolution your audience will see: a mark that reads at 1080p can be illegible when a platform serves the clip at 480p.
Does a video watermark survive re-uploading to social media?
A burned-in mark does, because it is part of the picture. Metadata does not: most platforms strip file headers on upload, so a copyright field protects nothing once the clip is live.
